Exodus 12: 13, 14
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance forever.
What is a token? A token is something that serves as an indication or representation; a sign or symbol. The blood of the lamb served as an indication or representation of the Covenant between GOD and the inhabitants of the house; the Blood of JESUS serves as an indication or representation of the Eternal Covenant, once and for all time sealed in JESUS Christ. When the Blood is over the household protected by GOD, He will not release the destroyer to harm His protected people. The Blood serves as protection and overcoming power.
There is the admonition from the LORD, that we are to remember the fact of the passover and keep the feast throughout all generations. This is an ordinance of GOD forever. Do we keep the Passover? Do we remember, regularly, the Passover of GOD in our life? Do we remember that the Blood of JESUS is a token; a sign of the Covenant with GOD? Yes, in the Christian Community, each time we partake of the Body and Blood of JESUS we keep the feast ( I Corinthians 5: 7b and 8). "For even Christ our Passover, is sacrificed for us, Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." The Holy Communion is the time of remembrance of the Body broken and the Blood shed for us. We remember with great thanksgiving, His death, we proclaim His resurrection as we await His coming in Glory.
JESUS SAID, "DO THIS IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME."
