WORTHY OF COMMUNION WITH THE LORD

I Corinthians 11:27
Therefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the LORD, unworthily, shall be guilty of the Body and Blood of the LORD.

These are very hard words to hear, and yet they are given to us in great love. The LORD does not want anyone to perish, so He will give hard words as a caution.

What does "unworthily" mean? It means without respect, honor and high regard for the precious Body and Blood of JESUS. The LORD is cautioning us not to be flippant or casual about partaking of the Holy presence of JESUS.  We are to approach the Holy Communion with a heart of Love for all that JESUS has done for us all; a heart of thanksgiving.

Communion is a time to remember the great, willing sacrifice of JESUS for the Salvation of the world; it is also to remember that He is coming again for His Bride, the Church. When we remember, we are to a give thanks, glorify GOD, respect His Presence and Honor Him with the honor due His name.

We are not worthy in ourselves, but the Blood of JESUS cleanses us from all unrighteousness and makes us worthy to stand before Him, clean and spotless. THANKS BE TO GOD WHO WASHES US CLEAN AND MAKES US WORTHY TO BE AT HIS TABLE.
