James 3: 13, 17, 18
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? Let him show out of a good life his works with meekness of wisdom... The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by them that make peace.

As we saw yesterday, knowledge comes by study, meditation and pondering; wisdom is the application of knowledge. These verses take us even deeper. It addresses the application of wisdom in verse 13, then it gives the character of wisdom in verses 17 and 18.

First, wisdom is from above, meaning from GOD. There are many who act very wise in their application of a great lineage of knowledge, but in the wisdom that is from above, they fall very short. There are 3 kinds of wisdom: GODLY, Earthly, and devilish. True wisdom and the right application of knowledge comes from GOD and is GOD applied, so the glory goes to GOD.

Other characteristics that separate the GODLY wisdom from the earthly and devilish are: GODLY wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle, and easily understood, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. Have you ever heard the brittle edge in the voice of the ones who are trying to convince you that they have knowledge? Well, people with true wisdom are soft and gentle with a beautiful air of peace, but their wisdom is profoundly from GOD.

THE FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS IS SOWN IN PEACE BY THEM THAT MAKE PEACE.
