Psalm 34:7
The angel of the LORD encampeth round about those who fear Him, and delivereth them.(KJV)
The angel of the LORD encamps around His reverent ones, and He releases them.(Tehillim, a Rabbinical translation of the Psalms)
ANGELS ASSIST IN PROTECTING THE SAINTS OF GOD
I am including a quote from the Rabbis on this verse: "The angel of GOD removes the righteous from the menace of the surrounding foe." (Iban Ezra, Radak, Metzudas David). Rabbi Malbim explains that this is an illustration to yet another kindness which GOD bestows upon David, and upon us.
When David was in trouble, the LORD sent angels, referring to the fact that angels were sent to release David from the army of Achish that surrounded him; when Daniel was in trouble, the LORD sent angels to shut the mouth of the Lions(Daniel 6:22).
What is the key to the release of this kind of protection in our life? The key is devotion to GOD. In the KJV, those are the ones who "fear the LORD"; in the Tehillim, those are ones who are "reverent". In our understanding, the ones whom GOD sends His angels to deliver and release from harm, are those who are born again, devoted to GOD, read and study his Word and are devoted to prayer. Relationship with GOD brings all His benefits, which includes His protecting angels.
I really like what the Malbim says, this is an illustration of the kindness of GOD. In His kindness towards us, the LORD releases all the Heavenly Host to come to our assistance. A Heavenly Host which assists Him in turning all things to good.
I WILL BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES; HIS PRAISE SHALL CONTINUALLY BE IN MY MOUTH.
