John 20:29
JESUS saith unto him, "Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed, blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed".
Throughout the ages, before JESUS' time on earth, it was by faith that the people believed in the ONE true GOD. This faith remained with them while they waited for the coming of the Messiah to free them to live with Him forever. They waited for the fulfillment of GOD'S promises to them. They had not seen GOD and yet they believed in all that HE had promised.
JESUS took this time with Thomas and the Disciples, to make the point, "Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
The Disciples had the joy of touching JESUS and fellowship with Him for three years. After His death on the cross, they trembled in fear and doubt. They only gained strength to believe again when JESUS appeared to them. Now, Thomas says that he must touch the wounds, in order to believe.
We are very much like Thomas, we need to see signs and wonders in order to believe. JESUS is really alive; He is really here; He loves us, passionately.
BLESSED ARE THEY WHO HAVE NOT SEEN AND YET BELIEVE.
