I Peter 2:23, 24
Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not, but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously; Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.
JESUS, THE BURDEN BEARER
Yesterday we looked at JESUS riding into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey, the symbol of peace. We saw that JESUS is our peace; Who came in peace and tore down the dividing wall between GOD and man. Today we look at JESUS riding into Jerusalem on the back of the donkey, a burden bearer.
JESUS bore our sins on the cross, so that sin and death would have to yield to righteousness and life. In JESUS we are declared righteous and are given eternal life. His Blood reconciles us to GOD and the middle wall has been destroyed, once and for all time, by the willing sacrifice of JESUS.
When JESUS was reviled, He did not revile in return; when He suffered, He didn't threaten, but committed Himself to GOD. We, who love the LORD JESUS have this pattern to follow, and the burden bearer, JESUS, redeems us by His Blood.
BY HIS BLOOD, HE RECONCILED US; BY HIS WOUNDS WE WERE HEALED.
