Proverbs 2: 6, 7
For the LORD giveth wisdom out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly.
Knowledge comes from study of the way of the LORD. The Scripture tells us to "study to show ourselves approved unto GOD, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth"(II Timothy 2:15). Wisdom is the application of knowledge. When we study, meditate and ponder the Word of the LORD, then we must ask for wisdom to apply it. Prayer is the way of asking. Ask and you will receive wisdom to "rightly divide the word of truth".
Proverbs 4: 5-9 says, Get wisdom, get understanding; forget it not, neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom; and with all thy getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she shall promote thee, she shall being thee to honor when thou dost embrace her. She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
