Encouragement through prayer

Tuesday, September 13, 2011
II Corinthians 1: 11
Ye also helping together by prayer for us, that for the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons thanks may be given by many on our behalf.

If all of us gather into a hospital room to visit a person who is sick; if all of us go to the prisons to visit a prisoner; if all of us flock into a home of a grieving person, it would be too much and too many. What can we do? We can pray in support of the one in need and those whom the LORD calls to be present in person. Yes, we are called to be a support and encouragement in many ways, and that call comes from GOD.

The most powerful help for a person in need comes by prayer. The Apostle Paul was the recipient of a lot of prayer and, through that support of prayer, GOD raised him up. Those who pray, those who are present, those who speak, those who write the words of encouragement form a body of intercession and the work of the LORD flows through each.

Since the work of the LORD takes many forms of encouragement, then the thanksgiving and praise for the result goes to the LORD. He is the one who blesses the givers and we are the ones who bless the LORD, the giver of Life.

When we have been called to pray for another, it is an encouragement to them to tell them that you are praying. This simple word, lifts up the hands that hang down and the feeble knees. It lifts a person's spirit and gives them the understanding that they are not alone in their struggle.

I WILL BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES, HIS PRAISE SHALL CONTINUALLY BE IN MY MOUTH.
