THE ANOINTING

I Samuel 15:17
And Samuel said, "When thou wast little in thine own sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel, and the LORD anointed thee King over Israel?"

Ponder this question; when you are little in your own eyes, are you not raised up by GOD?

Littleness is a virtue in the Christian faith, it is a sign of humility.  Humility and lowliness are the fertile ground through which GOD can be manifest in great power. We have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence and the power be of GOD and not of us. Matthew 18:4 says, "Whosoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."  I Peter 5:6 says this, "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of GOD, that He may exalt you in due time." JESUS humbled Himself to become man and then humbled Himself under the "mighty hand of GOD" so that the plan of salvation of humankind would be accomplished. Now JESUS is King of Kings and LORD of LORDS; GOD raised Him up and gave Him the Name above all Names.

What good ever comes from a person exalting himself? The pleasure is fleeting and the moment in the sun is only for a short time; but when GOD raises up the lowly, the glory is eternal and the riches, beyond measure.
Stay little in you own sight and esteem others greater than yourself, submit to the mighty hand of GOD. He will raise you up.

THE FIRST SHALL BE LAST AND THE LAST FIRST, SAITH THE LORD.
