I Corinthians 5: 7,8
Purge out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For Christ, our passover, is sacrificed for us, therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
COMMUNION IS AN ORDINANCE
When we gather together in fellowship with JESUS Christ and with one another, it is an ordinance for the Church to have the "Breaking of Bread", the Communion of the Church with GOD. JESUS Christ is our passover. In Exodus 12:1-28, is the account of the Passover and its meaning. This was a foreshadowing of the sacrifice of JESUS for our salvation and preservation. The communion reminds us of that great sacrifice and the price paid for our redemption.
We are to partake of the feast, not with the heavy yoke of sin, but worthily. This is a time of cleansing from sin and receiving the the "unleavened bread of sincerity and truth". This feast, with JESUS and one another, is healing to the deepest part of our spirit, uniting us to GOD in a real way.
WE ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST, FED BY HIS BODY AND BLOOD;
WE ARE THE CHURCH
