James 1: 22
But be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
I found a note in my Bible from 1977, it says," works: doing the Word that the Word is made flesh and fulfilled by the power of the Holy Spirit." I stopped and pondered these words in the light of the James passage. When we are doers of the Word of GOD, the LORD is reaching out with His love to transform the lives and living within the reach of that Word. The Word of the LORD has power to change conditions and hearts.
When we are hearers of the Word only, it is similar to hoarding, you get so puffed up that you fail to see the power of the Word at work. JESUS, the WORD of GOD, became flesh and lived the Word, transforming the world by His Spirit . He came to reconcile the world to Himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. This is what we are commanded to do; to love one another and to live the Word in the midst of all people, reconciling them to GOD, through their confession of faith.
Ask yourself this question, "Is what I am about to do or am doing, in keeping with the Word of the LORD?" If you can't find a justification in the Scripture, DON'T DO WHAT YOU ARE THINKING OF DOING. Another way of saying it is, "LORD, CONFIRM OR DENY WHAT I AM THINKING OF DOING IN YOUR WORD."
Ask and you shall receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be open unto you. Do the WORD, that the WORD will become flesh and fulfilled by the power of the Holy Spirit.
