I Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of GOD in Christ JESUS concerning you.
"In everything", these are very exact words. Paul didn't say: give thanks when times are good, or give thanks after you have received a gift. Paul said: "in everything" this means when times are difficult, trying and impossible, as well as, in the good times, when things are going well. It is interesting that when things are going well, people tend to forget to thank the LORD for His goodness. Hmmm, I wonder why?
Psalm 119: 62 says: "At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee, because of Thy righteous judgements". The midnight hour is when things are at their worst. When you can not see through the darkness, this is the time for great thanksgiving. It is a time to exercise the greatest faith that the LORD has promised to bring you through the fiery trials without being burned.
When we give thanks to the LORD, before we see the result, we open the door for Him to enter the situations that we face, as the Great Light that dispels darkness. Our thanksgiving for the goodness of GOD ushers in the power to change circumstances. The thankful heart knows the awesomeness and power of GOD.
GIVING THANKS IS A GOOD THING BECAUSE IT IS THE WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS CONCERNING YOU.
