Matthew 26:28
For this is My Blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Romans 3:25
Whom GOD hath set forth to be a propitiation through His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of GOD.
Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
Remission of sins and forgiveness of sins are different. Many people think that they are the same, but the Scripture makes it clear that they cover different aspects of GOD'S grace, when it comes to sins. "Remission of sins" is the blotting out of all past sins, as seen in Romans 3:25. "Forgiveness of sins" is GOD'S act of grace, wiping out the sins of the present and the future, the pardoning of sins "according to the riches of His grace".
Why is this so important? Why spend time looking so deeply into these words? Because, there are many people who do not understand that when we accept JESUS as our LORD and Savior, and are covered with His precious Blood, our sins of the past are ALL remitted - blotted out. Many people do not understand that when we confess our sins unto the LORD, from now on and in the future, our sins are then forgiven. JESUS redeemed us from the slavery to sin; He is the atonement for our sins through His Blood; He is the remission for our sins and He forgives our sins from this point on. All sin is covered; all sin is blotted out as far as the east is from the west.
