Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law (Word) of the LORD; and in His law (Word) doeth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
There are key words in this verse today: Walk, stand, sit, delight, meditate.
When we walk with others, we are in the place of discernment. We can choose where we walk and if we don't like the path, we can walk away. When we stand, we are in a place of agreement and listening. If we do not like what we hear, we still can walk away, but it is getting harder. When we sit down, we are saying, by our body language, that we are in full agreement with the path, and we are listening attentively.
This Psalm cautions us not to walk in the counsel of the ungodly; don't stand in the way of sinners; don't sit in the seat of the scornful. When we see this pattern of ungodliness, sinful behavior and scornful attitude and speech, DON'T WALK, STAND OR SIT WITH THEM.
When we delight and meditate on the Word of the LORD, we have clarity about where we are to walk, sit, and stand. The Word of the LORD is the best discernment tool that we can read, because it is GOD'S Word and the Holy Spirit will give understanding of that Word for our life.
Those who delight and meditate the Word of the LORD will prosper. God always prospers the path of those who walk in His counsel; who stand in the way of His Word and sit in the seat that He has prepared for them, the seat of Love.
